It is you, our guests, who make managing White Birch Village so special to us. We treasure the memories that are made each year and look forward to all the new ones that are yet to be made. May your memories of previous vacations at White Birch Village carry you through until you come and visit us again. Here’s to celebrating 31 years in 2013. Be sure to continue following us on Facebook and our blog.
2012 - 30th Anniversary Highlights
2012 was a very special year? It marked 30 years that White Birch Village has been in operation. It also marked 90 years that there has been a resort operating on this site. It all began in 1922 with the White Birch Resort Company. In the ninety year history as a resort, Carol and Dick are the longest owners to date. What a legacy they have created. It is thanks to their love, generosity, and vision that White Birch Village Resort is the special vacation destination that it is. To celebrate our rich history we had many celebrations throughout the season this year. Listed below are highlights of the year.

Minnow Races
Every Tuesday we had minnow races at the beach. Kids of all ages (2 – 80 years) had fun cheering their minnows to the finish line. Minnows were picked, names were given and they were off and swimming. The popular minnow name was “Bob”, but Flipper and Michael Phelps were also some of the favorites.
Fishing with John
Tuesday night fishing with John was a big success. Fish weren’t always caught, but they had a lot of fun. Many different lakes were fished by boat or canoe. Catches included walleye, bass and crappies. The big surprise of the summer was catching 14 walleyes while fishing for small mouth bass. John enjoyed getting to know our guests a little bit better.
Scavenger Hunt
Families of all ages had fun searching for the 16 hidden items along our nature trail. Everything from a 2 inch ladybug to a 5 foot boat anchor was hidden in the woods. Eagle eyes were needed to search for all the items. For those who succeeded the reward was an ice cream bar from the village store. 2013 will see a few new items added to the list along with an expanded nature trail system to search on.
 Sunset Cruises
Our Friday night pontoon cruises included lots of wildlife, shared memories, fellowship beautiful sunsets, pushing through the channel and getting caught in the rain. It was great way to share the White Birch Village story.
Charlie the Chipmunk
Charlie continues to be a huge hit with the kids in the summer. They can’t wait to get out and find where he is hidden. Charlie has become so popular even the local wildlife had to get in on the action. In June Charlie went missing, all that was found were two of his feet! Congratulations to Quinn and Tucker for their tenacity in their search for Charlie. Winter Charlie continues to gain in popularity. Charlie was eager for his swim as he went through the ice in mid-March. Will you be the winning person this year? Be sure to cast your vote for the 4th annual “Ice Out” contest. Charlie will set up camp the end of February. Be sure to check the blog for all the information.
Fishing Seminars
For the third year anglers of all ages enjoyed the wealth of knowledge the fishing guides shared with them at the fishing seminars. We would like to thank our fishing guides, Bob Bertch, Erv Keller and Mike Errington for a third year of sharing their time with us. In 2013 our guides will speak about bait choices and bait presentation. This program will be at the beach every Monday night at 6:30 PM.
Treasure Hunts
2012 marked the 4th year our of treasure hunts. The younger kids enjoyed a safari hunt, while the older youth had fun with a treasure map and solving clues. What will 2013 bring?

WBV Calendar Photo Contest
We are compiling photos for a 2014 calendar. During the 2013 season, photos can be submitted for the calendar. The winning photos will be used for the month in which it was taken and one will be chosen for the cover of the calendar. Winners will receive a free calendar. The calendars will be available for purchase in time for the 2013 holiday season.
South Trail and Birding Stations
In the Fall of 2012 we expanded our nature trail. We cleared a new ½ mile section to the nature trail. This portion of the trail is a well-marked rustic trail. We also added two new birding stations. They are located near the barn and have new station markers. Each one gives you a different view of the wetlands and the peace that the Northwoods brings.
